Foods That Cause Bloating

Bloating is usually an increase in the diameter of abdominal area or it is a kind of swelling on abdomen. During bloating, the patient feels as if the stomach is full and also feels tight. Stomach gas or excessive intestinal is the main reason of causing bloating. Bowel tightening, irregularity timed and no schedule are some causes of intestinal gas, which leads to irritable bowel syndrome or stomach bloat. Sometimes, bloating is responsible for adnominal pain also.

Taking fatty acids in high amount are responsible for discomfort and also empty your stomach after a long period. These fatty acids are also known as some of the foods that cause bloating. However, these types of foods do not produce gas.

Foods that cause bloating includes carbohydrate supplement. Carbohydrate is essential supplement but can cause bloating. Some fat and proteins containing food are conscientious for gas, which ultimately result as bloating. Sugars like raffinose, sorbitol, lactose and fructose are factors, which are included in the list of food causing bloating. Raffinose is considered as complex sugar, which is contained by beans in large amount. In addition, the smaller amounts of raffinose can be found in asparagus, cabbages, un-grinded grains, broccoli, sprouts and vegetables.

Milk is a product in which natural sugar lactose is available in high volume. Lactose can be also found in some of the milk products such as yogurt, ice-cream and cheese. Salad, cereal and bread are other products, which includes lactose. Most of the people especially of America, Asia, and Africa have lactose in their body at very low amount. Lactase is an enzyme, which is required to digest lactose. The level of enzymes decreases as the age of people increases with the time. Therefore, people may feel problems of gas when taking lactose supplements.

Fructose is the richest source of carbohydrates. Pears, wheat avocados and onions are some of the products, which have carbohydrates in high amount. Some drinks such as fruit drinks and soft drinks, in this fructose are used like a sweetener. In fruits such as pears, prunes, apples and peaches, a sugar component is found which is known as sorbitol. It acts like a sweetener in candy, dietetic food etc.

Most of the foods that contain starch are pasta, potatoes, wheat and corn. These foods are essential factors for producing gas because these are not broken in to stomach but usually broken down by large intestine. Thus, starch foods are also among foods that cause bloating. The only starch product that does not produce gas and is easily digestible is Rice. Soluble fiber and also insoluble fibers are present in many foods. Soluble fibers are those, which easily get dissolves with water, and often in intestine make a gel or soft texture.

Some people have propensity that eating fewer food helps bloating whereas it increases. Better is to eat food low with fat such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and milk products. Less fat in the diet helps the stomach empty fast, which allow gases to move into the small intestine. Some effective dietary changes may help bloating.
